PS2 is the LORENTZ platform for small and medium solar pumping: an integrated system where the controller, the ECDRIVE motor and the pump end are engineered together. It lifts water from as deep as 450 m, moves up to 60 m³/h with its surface pumps, and manages itself through sensors and software. Here is how the system is built and how to specify it.
| Model | Max power | Max PV input (Voc) | Max input current |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS2-150 | 300 W | 50 V | 22 A |
| PS2-200 | 300 W | 100 V | 11 A |
| PS2-600 | 700 W | 150 V | 13 A |
| PS2-1800 | 1,800 W | 200 V | 14 A |
| PS2-4000 | 4,000 W | 375 V | 14 A |
All five share the same envelope: 98 percent maximum efficiency, IP68 pressure-cast aluminium housing for outdoor mounting, and full-power operation at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C with active power management above. Protection against reverse polarity, overload, motor short circuit and over-temperature is built in.
PS2 carries eight sensor inputs and the application software to use them: well probe for dry-running protection, tank-full switch, two 4-20 mA analogue inputs for pressure and level, a pulse water meter input for accurate flow data, wet electrodes for pipeline sensing, and a signal output to drive external devices. The supplied SunSensor measures irradiation and stops unnecessary start/stop cycles in marginal light. Commissioning happens in the free PumpScanner app: LORENTZ pumps are preconfigured, a standard setup takes three clicks.
The envelope covers most of the solar pumping market: drip, sprinkler and flood irrigation, livestock watering where even a PS2-150 waters a herd from 15 m with a 0.6 kWp array, village drinking water around storage tanks, and swimming pools with the dedicated PS2 pool pumps.
Where the schedule demands pumping beyond the solar day, the PowerPack accessory feeds the PS2 from the grid or a diesel generator. The system stays solar-first and simply gains a second source, without replacing any component. For most duties, though, an elevated tank remains the cheapest night supply there is.

Depth and flow decide. The 4" helical rotor ends own the deep, low-flow duty and deliver a steady flow even in weak light; the multistage centrifugal ends move larger volumes at moderate heads. Both run on the same ECDRIVE motor and controller platform.
Yes. The enclosure is IP68 pressure-cast aluminium with an integrated heat sink, rated for ambient temperatures from -38 to +50 °C at full power. It is routinely pole-mounted directly under the array.
PS2 submersible systems lift from depths down to 450 m with the helical rotor ends. The exact model follows from your total dynamic head and daily volume; our sizing places it on the official curves.
Yes, through the PowerPack accessory, which brings AC power into the system for night pumping or backup while solar remains the primary source. For fully blended hybrid operation, see the PSk2 SmartSolution or the natively hybrid PSk3 controllers.
