LORENTZ PV management accessories

LORENTZ · PV Disconnect · PV Combiner · PV Protect · Updated July 2026

A PV array has no off switch: it produces power whenever light reaches it, at voltages and currents that demand respect. The LORENTZ PV management range brings that power under control on pumping systems: DC disconnects to isolate safely, combiners to parallel strings cleanly, and surge protection against lightning-induced spikes. Modular, IP68, and matched to the whole PS2, PSk2 and PSk3 range.

Mounted where they belong: between the array and the controller, on the racking pole.

Why professional installations need them

  • Isolate for service and emergencies. The DC disconnect cuts the array from the controller under load, and locks in the off position while someone works on the system.
  • Manage strings safely. Combiners parallel up to six PV strings, with fused versions where more than three strings run in parallel or local codes require it.
  • Survive the storm. Surge protection devices (SPD) shunt the voltage spikes that indirect lightning strikes induce in the array cabling, protecting the controller electronics. Correct grounding makes them effective.

Small boxes, long system life

These accessories improve user safety, protect the controller and pumps, and are simply part of a professional solar pumping installation. Every SINES Export sizing on LORENTZ equipment includes them.

The three families

Reading the model names

Every reference encodes its rating: in PV Disconnect 400-50-3-P, 400 is the maximum DC voltage (400 or 1000 V), 50 the maximum current in amperes, 3 the maximum number of strings, and the suffix the integrated protection: S for a surge protection device, F for fuses, P for both.

400-50-3-PPS2400 V DC3YesYes
1000-50-5PSk2 / PSk31000 V DC5NoNo

All models: 50 A total current, lockable disconnect rated for switching under load (IEC 60947-3), internal touch protection, polycarbonate IP68 housing, -30 to +50 °C, wall or pole mounting.

PV Combiner: specifications

ModelForMax voltageStringsCurrent/stringFuses

1000-15-6-FPS2 / PSk2 / PSk31000 V DC615 AYes (12 × 15 A)
1000-125-4PSk2 / PSk31000 V DC4125 ANo

The 1000-125-4 recombines the outputs of several disconnects on large PSk2 and PSk3 arrays. All combiners share the IP68 polycarbonate housing and the wall or pole mounting points (EN 60204).

PV Protect: specifications

The PV Protect 1000-125 is the dedicated surge protection unit for PSk2 and PSk3 arrays: 1000 V DC, 125 A, IP68, installed between the PV generator and the controller with a ≥16 mm² ground conductor to a proper ground rod (EN 60204, EN 61000, EN 61643). On PS2 systems, surge protection is already integrated in the S and P versions of the PV Disconnect.

How the boxes wire together

SINES - LORENTZ PV management wiring diagram for a PS2 system with combiner and disconnect
A fused PS2 installation: 1 PV strings, 2 PV Combiner with fuses, 3 PV Disconnect, 4 PS2 controller, 5 well probe, 6 submersible pump, 7 tank, 8 ground rod.

Selection is mechanical: count your strings, check whether local codes require fuses, and the combination follows. One string on a PS2 needs a single 400-50-1-S; six strings with fuses pair the 1000-15-6-F combiner with a disconnect; large PSk2 and PSk3 arrays stack disconnects into the 1000-125-4 recombiner with a PV Protect ahead of the controller. Our sizing service picks the exact set for your array.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need fuses in my PV array?

As a rule of thumb, fuses are recommended when more than three strings run in parallel, and some local electrical codes require them regardless. The F and P versions integrate them; otherwise the fuse-free versions keep the installation simpler.

Which disconnect fits my PS2 system?

Count the strings: one string takes the 400-50-1-S, up to three the 400-50-3-S (or 400-50-3-P with fuses), up to six the 400-50-6-S. All PS2 disconnects integrate surge protection. Send us your array layout and we confirm the reference.

Is the PV Protect enough against lightning?

It protects against the induced surges of indirect strikes, which are the common killer of controller electronics. It requires correct grounding through a ground rod to work. Direct strike protection is a separate lightning protection design.

Can these boxes live outdoors in the sun?

Yes. IP68 polycarbonate housings, -30 to +50 °C ambient rating, weather-protected wall mounting or pole mounting with pre-marked points inside the boxes. They are designed to sit on the array structure itself.
