LORENTZ has done one thing since 1993: solar water pumping. Founded in Germany and active in over 130 countries, the company builds complete pumping systems rather than bare pumps: a controller, a motor and hydraulics engineered together, wrapped in software that plans, configures and monitors the installation. This guide maps the whole ecosystem, so you can name exactly the components your project needs. SINES Export distributes the LORENTZ range wholesale.
The range is organised in three systems that cover everything from a garden well to a town water scheme:
| PS2 | PSk2 | PSk3 hybrid | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controller power | 150 W to 4 kW (5 power classes) | 8 to 90 kW (7 power classes) | 5.5 and 11 kW motors (2 power classes) |
| Motor technology | ECDRIVE brushless DC, IP68 | Standard three-phase AC, 25 to 55 Hz | Standard three-phase AC |
| Pump envelope | 4" to 6" to 450 m, surface to 60 m³/h | 6" to 10" to 200 m, surface to 457 m³/h | Shared with PSk2 |
| Power sources | Solar; PowerPack for grid or generator | Solar; SmartSolution blending option | Solar and AC blended natively in one unit |
| Typical duty | Farms, livestock, villages, pools | Pivots, utilities, industry, town supply | 24-hour duties, on-grid savings, genset sites |
Each platform is detailed on its own page: the PS2 system guide, the PSk2 system guide and the PSk3 hybrid systems.
PS2 pumps use the ECDRIVE brushless DC motor, designed for the one thing solar power never is: constant. Where a small AC motor only reaches its best efficiency in a narrow band, the ECDRIVE holds a very high efficiency across its whole operating range, and the PS2 system averages above 90 percent through the solar day. In practice that means the system starts earlier in the morning, keeps pumping under clouds and stops later in the evening, with fewer PV modules on the racking for the same daily volume.
Solar is the primary source; it does not have to be the only one. The range offers three levels of hybridisation. On PS2 systems, the PowerPack accessory feeds the controller from the grid or a generator when night pumping or exceptional demand requires it. On PSk2, the SmartSolution actively blends solar with grid or generator power through the SmartPSUk2, with the SmartStart starting and stopping the generator against your water targets. And the PSk3 makes hybrid native: one controller with both a DC input (400 to 850 V from the array) and an AC input (380 to 480 V from grid or generator), blending them automatically. Blending, not switching: solar is always used first, the second source only tops up what the sky did not provide, and this active mix can cut energy costs by 60 to 70 percent compared with simple source switching.
The same building blocks serve four families of duties. Whatever the application, the controller optimises water delivery against the power available and the sensors connected.
LORENTZ systems are engineered in Germany for the harshest off-grid environments: stainless steel hydraulics in AISI 304, IP68 electronics on PS2, and a deliberately modular design where pump ends, motors and electronics are field-replaceable parts rather than sealed units. Combined with the PV management accessories (DC disconnects, combiners and surge protection), the installation stays safe to work on and protected against lightning-induced surges.
PS2 submersible
Helical rotor and centrifugal, lifts down to 450 m
PS2 surface
CS-F centrifugal and boost systems to 60 m³/h
PSk2 submersible
6" to 10" multistage systems, 8 to 90 kW
PSk2 surface
Vertical multistage and end-suction, flows to 457 m³/h
PSk3 hybrid
Natively hybrid controllers, 5.5 and 11 kW motors
Accessories
PV management, smartTAP and system accessories
Power and power sources decide. Up to 4 kW, PS2 covers the duty with its DC brushless motors and IP68 electronics. Beyond that, PSk2 takes over with standard three-phase motors driven by controllers from 8 to 90 kW. When blended hybrid operation is the primary requirement on 5.5 or 11 kW motors, the natively hybrid PSk3 is the direct answer. The sizing places your duty point on the right platform automatically.
Yes, two ways. The standard answer is water storage: pump to a tank while the sun shines, distribute by gravity around the clock. Where genuine night pumping is needed, the PowerPack (PS2) or the SmartSolution (PSk2) brings grid or generator power into the system, with solar always used first.
PumpScanner is a free app; configuration and local data access are included with every system. pumpMANAGER is an optional cloud subscription for remote monitoring and management, billed at a low monthly fee per system.
