The Studer Xtender is a Swiss-made pure sine inverter/charger, designed for off-grid (remote site), back-up and solar hybrid installations. A single unit combines the inverter (producing pure sine 230 V from a 12, 24 or 48 V battery), the multi-stage battery charger, automatic transfer from the grid or generator, and the Smart-Boost power-boosting function. The range extends from 500 VA (XTS) to 7,000 VA per unit (XTH), with parallelling of up to 9 inverters and single-phase or three-phase operation.
Why choose the Xtender?
- All-in-one: pure sine inverter + charger + transfer (relay) + grid topping-up in a single enclosure.
- Smart-Boost: adds battery power to that of a generator or an undersized AC source, including on inductive loads or those with high inrush current.
- Ultra-fast transfer: switchover between grid and battery in under 15 ms, with no interruption noticeable to the loads.
- Scalable: up to 9 units in parallel, single-phase or three-phase, to reach several tens of kVA.
- Full control: settings and supervision via the RCC-02/-03 remote control or the Xcom (TabPC) interface, with software updates.
- Robust & durable: Swiss design, operating range from −20 to 55 °C, programmable multifunction contacts.

Modes & parallelling
The Xtender combines and automates four core functions: inverter, battery charger, switching (transfer) and topping-up from external AC sources. Everything is fully configurable from the RCC-02/-03 remote control or the Xcom (TabPC) interface, with software updates to stay at the cutting edge of technology.
- Parallelling: up to 9 Xtenders connected together, single-phase to increase power, or three-phase (3, 6 or 9 units).
- Smart-Boost: instantaneous battery topping-up to supplement a generator or the grid, even on inductive loads or those with high inrush current.
- Multifunction contacts: programmable voltage-free relays (generator start, load shedding, alarm, time slots, etc.), responding to internal or external events.
- Automatic transfer: switchover between grid and battery in under 15 ms, ideal for back-up applications.
Certifications
The Xtender inverter/chargers comply with the European Low Voltage (LVD 2014/35/EU) and EMC (2014/30/EU) directives, and meet the EN/IEC 62477-1, 62109-1, 62109-2, 62040-1, 62040-2, 61000-3-2, 61000-3-3, 61000-6-2 and 61000-6-4 standards. Swiss design and manufacture (Studer Innotec).
Pre-engineered Studer kit
Studer and SINES have developed a series of ready-to-use kits to simplify and standardise the deployment of solar systems on remote sites. Monitoring and production-tracking tools make it possible to collect valuable data, anticipate problems and correct deviations throughout the life of the installation.
