Solar pumping systems for reliable Water Supply in Africa

The Altivar 312 Solar drive is designed to help provide drinking water at a lower cost for people with limited or no access to electrical grids.

By reducing the number of components, Altivar 312 Solar increases the reliability of your installation. The system automatically djusts the pump flow to the availability of energy, increases the service life of the installation and facilitates its maintenance and detects system malfunctions.

The drive has many solar-specific and pump control functions, such as built-in maximum power point tracking and dry run detection, as well as sensorless flow calculation. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) ensures you to get the best output power possible from your solar panel and it maximizes the performance of your pump along the day while the automatic start and stop with solar radiation can save money and fuel during daylight hours.

For large systems, a combiner box (junction box) with all cables from the solar panels can be connected into one set of power input cables before connecting them to an Altivar 312 Solar.

A complete system consists of three components: PV modules, ATV312 solar drive, single-phase or trhee-phase pump. The AC compatibility also allows the end user to connect the inverter to single or three-phase power in their workshop for off-site setup which enables a fast and simple on-site installation. Solar power (DC) and AC power must never under any circumstances be connected at the same time. To prevent the AC and DC power sources from being connected by accident, we strongly recommend that you use an interlocked changeover switch The switch must be sized according to the RSI power ratings.

A system equipped with a storage water tank will enable a stable water supply throughout the day.
